Through rethinking the existing building's circulation strategy and closely analysing the structural grid, alma-nac have inserted 43 dual aspect apartments within this 1960s concrete framed building, each with a South West facing living space and balcony. This tightly set, animated facade naturally led to the angled balustrade design. This form proves most efficient in simultaneously protecting privacy between adjacent apartments and allowing the greatest open views over South East London.
Forming an on-going research in to shared amenity spaces within rental accommodation, Cargreen Road provides each unit with the capacity for a home cinema, large dining room, spare bedroom, gym and office all within the confines of a GLA pace standards compliant 1 bedroom apartment.
